About the Teacher
Dawn Dhammadhidā Barie is a Theravāda meditation teacher who teaches tranquility meditation (samatha) and insight (vipassana) practice, guiding students toward direct understanding of the Dhamma through a clear, gentle and grounded teaching style.
In 2000, she was authorized by senior Thai monks in the Luang Pu Sodh Candasaro (Wat Paknam) tradition to teach meditation, and was given the Pāli name Dhammadhidā. She has trained in meditative absorption (jhāna) and insight (vipassana) practice, and holds a Master of Buddhist Studies from the University of Sydney, with a focus on Early Buddhism, Pāli, and the origins of Abhidhamma.
A dedicated practitioner since 1994, she has completed 2.5 years of intensive retreat practice, as well as additional contemplative training within the Thai Forest Tradition under Luang Pu Uthai and in Tibetan Mahāmudrā under the late Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche.
